Join us on February 4 to learn about efforts of local community organizations to help our neighbors during these hard times.  We will hear from local groups providing food, and housing about who they serve and how they have changed during this time of COVID-19.  While we as a community work on policy to alleviate long term houselessness, food insecurity, and other problems, COVID-19 has challenged us all to step up and find what we can do NOW to help.

So many people are working to help all get through these times. Come celebrate with us as we see the good that is happening around us.  We have a long way to go - but we have begun on a new path.

Some places to start helping out are here: https://www.ewcdems.us/making-a-difference-locally.html
For some of us, the recent stimulus payments are essential - replacing lost income and helping get by until we beat this pandemic.  For others, the need is not as great.  We will hear about an initiative urging people to donate what they can to local programs that serve the most needy in our East Washington County communities and how to help out local businesses.

Join us on Zoom as we toast Representative Doherty to thank her for her 11 years in the Legislature. I trust that she will bring her Irish humor and candor to talking about her time there. Margaret has also done so much good work in our community We look forward to continuing to see her in the future. We are grateful for the updates she has brought us over the years - often arriving right from a long day in Salem.

We will also be hearing from our local TTSD high school students about their proposal to ask the district to provide menstrual hygiene products in all girls' and gender neutral restrooms free of charge as a matter of healthcare and gender equity. They have conducted research and designed a campaign plan around their proposal, and are currently navigating the TTSD policy process. Part of their campaign is to raise public awareness and hopefully earn community support. These students have come to us before and are inspiring in their advocacy for important issues.

Please join us on Zoom to start off the new, hopefully much better, year.
