April 6, 2023 - Hear from our candidates
Thank you to those who joined us April 6 2023 to hear from School Board and water district candidates. We are grateful to them for sharing with us. I am enclosing a quick summary of the meeting and link to a meeting video for anyone wishing to learn more.
In places such as Newberg, we have seen how the loss of a school board election can disrupt a whole community. On May 16th, Oregon holds elections for school boards and special districts, such as parks, fire and water districts. Turnout for these elections is usually below 24%. Yet, they have a major impact on our day to day lives.
We heard from the candidates a little about their races and what inspired them to run. We know we face opponents in all of these races and our support may make the difference in these important parts of our community. I am enclosing links to the webpages of all candidates - please connect and help them out. You can donate, volunteer, get a lawn sign or let them know how you want to help.

But...Many would like to help all of these candidates. You can. As a neighborhood leader, you will help distribute slate cards endorsing all of these people. You reach out to about 35 Democratic households in your immediate neighborhood. We have learned that this personal contact is the best way to turnout voters and win elections. In the comparable election in 2019, average voter turnout in Washington County was 20%. If a voter had contact with a neighborhood leader, turnout was 51%.
Feel free to touch base if you want more information or you can sign up here. You will receive training and support and it takes a very few hours to make an immense difference.
